HTM 07-01 Safe and Sustainable Management of Healthcare Waste is the UK’s definitive framework and best-practice technical guidance provided by the NHS for the sustainable management of healthcare waste. It makes colour-coding standards (e.g., yellow, orange, yellow/black tiger stripe) mandatory to make sure there is separation at the source of the creation of any waste in a healthcare setting. This framework aims to lower costs and minimise carbon emissions and environmental impact across all clinical settings.
The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
